Thanks, APL! I include this because too little security can make things just as inconvenient as too much security. Like every profession (or group of professions) that serves the public, we owe it to ourselves, our employers, and the public to do the right thing. Offhand, it would seem that insecured hospital data ought to be secured -- at least a little!

    Ask the Jedi master why is there so many alcohol sanitizers distributors everywhere in any hospital. "But my hands are clean!" he would say?

    Same thing with data/network security: you protect yourself from things unseen or you try to prevent some infection.

    Someone should point out to this guy that if someone does get into the data, not only could the facility be liable, but with this little security on his orders he could be personally liable. Heck he could even end up criminally liable.
